The school was named after one of Llanuwchllyn's most famous sons, Sir O.M.Edwards (1858-1920). Born in Coed-y-pry, he became a tutor in Oxford, and was an MP for Meirionnydd for many years. In 1907, he was promoted to Head Inspector of schools in Wales - the first to be appointed to that post. He has done tremendous work for Welsh education and published many Welsh books for adults and children. His son was Sir Ifan Ab Owen Edwards, founder of Urdd Gobaith Cymru. A monument of both Sir O M Edwards and his son Sir Ifan Ab Owen are close to the School, and we are often inspired by their work and wisdom. In 2013 the school re-opened - The old building has undergone a major transformation. We have had an extension for two new classes, and a new STEAM room for the pupils. The pupils are very fortunate to be learning in a modern building with all the technology around it.To read more please visit: www.llanuwchllyn.cymru
